Helpful Group Resources
Ask-It-Basket (Group FAQs)How do I start a new meeting and get listed on the meeting directory?First, you may wish to view our collection of helpful documents intended for new meetings. There you will find suggested meeting formats, standard reading materials, and other information that can help your new group start strong. Before you can be added to our meeting directory, we ask that you please begin by registering your meeting with the World Service Office (oa.org). Once your meeting has been approved and has received an official OA meeting number, please email the Meeting Directory Coordinator and Chair to register with our intergroup. (see our Contact page) Please note: all meetings wishing to be associated with Sea to Sky Intergroup must meet the requirements in our bylaws (section 3.3). How do we update our meeting in the meeting directory? If changes have occurred (or will occur) to your registered meeting, please send all relevant information to our Meeting Directory Coordinator. (see our Contact page) ***Don't forget to update your meeting's listed information with OA World Service (oa.org) How does our group order literature? At this time, Intergroup is unable to support member groups by ordering literature. There is no Literature Coordinator, and Covid-19 has made it difficult for us to coordinate literature sales. We encourage member groups and/or members to purchase literature themselves where possible. You can purchase OA literature through Amazon.ca or directly from OA World Service. A copy of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous is also available on the AA website. What recovery resources are available to our members?Support from Sea to Sky Intergroup:

7th Tradition Contributions to Intergroup
What is the 7th tradition? The 7th Tradition states that, "we are self-supporting through our own contributions."
Each individual group meeting supports itself by collecting contributions for room/Zoom rental, literature purchases, and more. Groups are encouraged to organize recovery events and outreach activities among their members, using the funds generated from their membership to do so. After these activities, group's surplus funds are forwarded to Intergroup, Region One and World Service so that these larger service bodies can organize resources and support for individual OA members and outreach projects at wider levels. There are currently two ways groups can submit their contributions to Intergroup: via cheque or bank e-transfer. |
Method 1: Bank e-transferStart by logging into the website of your group's banking institution, then navigate to the area where you can make an eTransfer*.
Designate our Treasurer as the recipient (treasurer.oaseatosky@gmail.com) and include a comment that contains:
*Please note that we can only accept eTransfers in Canadian dollars at this time Method 2: Mail us a chequeAddress the cheque to SEA TO SKY INTERGROUP. Please ensure there are no errors on the cheque; if you make a change, please initial beside the change – otherwise, our bank will not accept it. Put your group name and registration number in the memo section (or "personal donation" if you're not donating on behalf of a group)*.
Include a slip of paper that specifies:
Put these items into an envelope and send it to us at: Sea to Sky Intergroup Service Body #09217 P.O. Box 95085, Kingsgate RPO Vancouver, BC Canada V5T 4T8 *Please note that we can only accept cheque donations in Canadian dollars at this time |
